Beer Mile Date Announced

The Burke-Gilman Beer Mile will take place on June 14th, 2008, at the
Martin family farm in Snohomish, WA. The event will be renamed to "The
Barnyard Beer Mile" and will feature a cross-country style quarter mile
course through a Snohomish pasture. Runners will be encouraged to
embrace the farm and/or hick theme and dress appropriately.

Many people have been curious about the movement of the event to a new
location and date, and here are some frequently provided answers:

* The old location provided a very poor viewing experience for
spectators. The new location will allow everyone to watch all the fun.

* The old location was partly on neighborhood streets and posed a risk
to runners and property. The new location is entirely on private
property.

* It is technically illegal to drink in public. The new location is
entirely private.

* We can have the event earlier in the day without worry of running over
cyclists.

* Finally, the weather has traditionally sucked in early-to-mid May.
While June is no guarantee, the probability of getting a sunny afternoon
is higher.
